Senior Computer Scientist

About Me

I have had many roles since I first started working with computers nearly thirty years ago, but chief among them are programmer, researcher, educator, and game designer. I have published four games, two courses, two research papers, and four websites I wrote every line of code and made every asset used on this website, except the fonts, which are the open source fonts JikiTourai (used here for headers) and Atkinson Hyperlegible Next (used here for general text). I coded it by hand out of primarily HTML and CSS, with some JavaScript, SVG, and graphic design work thrown in as well. According to CanIUse, this website should work for over 97% of all users, including on all modern desktop browsers and all but one mobile browser. Also, anything that can work without JavaScript does, for those who are security-minded and hesitant to browse without blocking scripts. I also set up the Apache web server it's running on within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, as well as the accompanyng Postfix mail server on the Google Cloud Platform. I'm also planning to convert it to run on Django for added customization options, but that's still a work in progress. I have completed over a dozen projects from start to finish, including ten as project lead or primary contributor. I also excel at fixing problems and optimizing existing works, rapidly producing noticeable results even when starting with no knowledge of the technologies and tools used.

I have a diverse range of skills and domain-specific knowledge due primarily to my boundless desire to learn, but also to the multitude of opportunities I have been fortunate enough to be granted. I am knowledgeable on , including programming, data analysis, network security, web design, education, healthcare, game design, cybersecurity planning and policy, biology, graphic design, government contracting, chemistry, physics, mythology, creative writing, and history, to name a few, and I am adept at utilizing any relevant aspects of my repertoire when approaching any task, project, or problem. I'm also always excited to learn something new as part of my work, allowing me to add to my skillset further while also meeting the needs of any project with careful attention to detail and a solution-oriented mindset.

Even in my spare time, I am often still doing something on my computer, be it playing , such as Final Fantasy XIV, Pokémon, Marvel Rivals, Guild Wars 2, Elden Ring, and Dead By Daylight, working on a mod for one, or tinkering with a personal project. I currently live in San Antonio, Texas, but I am open to relocating, especially once I graduate with my Ph.D. in Computer Science this December.
